Brevetes Drawing Instrument Set in original box.
This is a wonderful "Compas Superieurs" drawing set in excellent condition. It was made by Brevetes SGDG around 1930 and was probably used during the thirties and forties by a draughtsman or designer. The set is housed in a polished hardwood box (possibly ash or beech) which has brass hinges and a brass lock (key supplied). The box is a work of art in itslef and has a domed top and finger joints on all corners. The inside of the lid is lined with purple silk which has the makers name printed on it. The brass escutcheon on the keyhole is missing, this is the only minor fault.
The box measures 205mm wide x 120mm deep x 45mm high.
The instruments are constructed from brass and hardened steel and all seem to be part of the original set. All the original components are present and there are a number of additional items in the lower storage area under the main tray. These include two wooden rulers of the same period, a brass protractor and a hard eraser. All of the instruments show wear but this adds to the authenticity and ambience of the set. These were high quality tools that were designed to be used.
