This is another wonderful example of the Parker Vacumatic. This is the the Slender Junior model finished in Classic Black with Gold filled trim to the clip, cap rings and tassie. It dates from around 1936.
The first generation Vacumatics (1932 - 1936) were fitted with the metal lockdown filler and had a short blind cap, the seond generation (1937 - 1941) were fitted with the speedline filler with the longer blind cap, the third generation (1942 - 1948) were fitted with the plastic filler, again with a longer blind cap. There were some crossovers on the dates as old stock was used up. Canadian models tended to lag behind the US production as old stock was passed to Toronto to make way for new stock in Janesville.
This is the first generation model with the lockdown filling system. It is in particularly good condition throughout with a few very minor marks and scratches. The diaphragm has been replaced and the pen is in full working order. The plating to the clip is showing a little wear and there are some marks on the blind cap.
The nib writes with a wonderful Fine line, it is the original nib and it is in excellent condition.
We are very lucky here at Vintage Fountain Pens Ltd as we are able to continue to run the business from home. However we are taking every precaution to ensure that we all remain safe, all envelopes are new and come from sealed packaging, all pens and accessories are kept in sealed cupboards until required and all work areas are disinfected on a daily basis. We are still taking in repairs and, as long as the Post Office is open, we are able to turn them round very quickly. Let us hope that we get on top of this virus very quickly and we can all get back to normal. Thank you for your continued support.
