The Duofold Maxima was first introduced in 1958 at Parkers Newhaven Factory. It sits at the top of the tree as Parkers flagship Duofold. It is a wonderful writing instrument with a great deal of presence. It was a very sought after model but it came with a premium price tag and is therefore relatively rare.
This example dates from around 1960. It is in good condition and is finished in black with gold filled trim to the clip and cap ring. There is some wear to the gold plate on the clip and cap ring and minor marks and light scratches on the cap and barrel commensurate with use. It writes with a beautiful smooth Medium line and it uses the fabulously reliable aerometric filling system. It is fully serviced and ready to write.
The nib is the huge No.50, the biggest nib fitted to any of the Duofolds of that era. The fins on the feed are notoriously delicate but this one is fully intact - most unusual!
We are very lucky here at Vintage Fountain Pens Ltd as we are able to continue to run the business from home. However we are taking every precaution to ensure that we all remain safe, all envelopes are new and come from sealed packaging, all pens and accessories are kept in sealed cupboards until required and all work areas are disinfected on a daily basis. We are still taking in repairs and, as long as the Post Office is open, we are able to turn them round very quickly. Let us hope that we get on top of this virus very quickly and we can all get back to normal. Thank you for your continued support.
