The Parker 61 Capillary was introduced in the early 1960's and used a radical new filling system. The capillary filler relied on a rolled up tube of perforated plastic to suck up ink out of a bottle using capillary action alone. It was a very succesful filling sytem provided that you kept the pen clean and used it regularly. The system got itself a bad name when ink dried up inside the tubes and gradually reduced the ink capacity. The reality is that it is a very efficient system which needs a little more TLC than normal to keep it functioning well.
This set is in mint condition and has not been inked yet so there is very little danger of it failing to fill properly! The set consists of the Fountain pen and a matching propelling pencil. The pen still has its original chalk marks - a sure sign of little or no use.
The pen writes with a wonderful Medium line (only dipped for testing purposes) and the set is supplied in its original box and outer sleeve.
We are very lucky here at Vintage Fountain Pens Ltd as we are able to continue to run the business from home. However we are taking every precaution to ensure that we all remain safe, all envelopes are new and come from sealed packaging, all pens and accessories are kept in sealed cupboards until required and all work areas are disinfected on a daily basis. We are still taking in repairs and, as long as the Post Office is open, we are able to turn them round very quickly. Let us hope that we get on top of this virus very quickly and we can all get back to normal. Thank you for your continued support.
