  • FINE (F) = 0.45 mm
  • MEDIUM (M) = 0.6 mm
  • BROAD (B) = 0.9 mm
  • DOUBLE BROAD (BB) = 1.2 mm
  • TRIPLE BROAD (BBB) = 1.8 mm

Flexibility: The flexibility of the nib is graded in accordance with the table below.

  • 0 = No flexibility, a stiff nib with no flexing of the tines when light pressure is applied.
  • 1 = Very Slight Flex, the tines spread up to around .2mm when light pressure is applied giving a slight line width variation.
  • 2 = Light Flex, under light pressure the tines spread giving a one step change in line width, i.e. Medium to Broad.
  • 3 = Medium Flex, spanning approximately two nib width ratings, i.e. the width varies from Extra Fine to Medium with light pressure.
  • 4 = Very Flexible, spanning three or more of the nib width ratings, i.e. the width varies from Fine to Double Broad
