The Parker Duofold Senior was first introduced in 1925 as part of the first Duofold range. The first models were made from Red or Black Hard Rubber, later models were made from Permanite, Parkers name for Celluloid. Permanite was developed by Du Pont with Parkers help and was available in more colours. The Streamlined range was introduced in the late 1920's and included pens in Lapis Lazuli, Chinese Red and Mandarin Yellow. It was to be a few more years before the marble effect pens were available made from the newer Acrylic materials.
This is a Duofold Senior Streamlined set in one of the later patterns, Pearl and Black Marble. It was made around 1935 and is in good condition apart from the all-too-common darkening of the barrel caused by a reaction between these early and slightly more unstable plastics and sulphur from the ink sac. The pen itself is physically in very good condition with no chips, cracks or deep scratches. The plating to the clip and cap ring is good with a bit of wear on the edges.
The imprints are deep and legible. The pen has been fully serviced and is ready to go. The nib is a wonderful Broad Italic which gives a lovely shape to your writing. Forget the darkening of the barrel, think only of that nib!!!
We are very lucky here at Vintage Fountain Pens Ltd as we are able to continue to run the business from home. However we are taking every precaution to ensure that we all remain safe, all envelopes are new and come from sealed packaging, all pens and accessories are kept in sealed cupboards until required and all work areas are disinfected on a daily basis. We are still taking in repairs and, as long as the Post Office is open, we are able to turn them round very quickly. Let us hope that we get on top of this virus very quickly and we can all get back to normal. Thank you for your continued support.
