Thomas De La Rue Ltd began manufacturing the Onoto range in 1905 and they quickly eastablished themselves in an already densely populated marketplace. The pens were successful because of the excellent quality of the materials used and the superior design of the filling system. Onoto pens were as good, if not better, than all their contemporaries including Parker, Watermans and Conway Stewart.
This is a very nice example of Onoto's "De La Rue Pen" finished in classic Black with gold filled trim.
The pen is in very good condition, the finish is bright and vibrant with some very minor fading of the barrel. There is some minor wear to the plating on the edges of the clip.
The 14ct gold nib is in excellent condition and writes beatifully with a medium line. Onoto pens are fabulous writing instruments and this one will give you years of faithful service.
