This is an excellent example of the famous Parker 61 Presidential, the top of the range of the Parker line. It is finished in solid gold with hallmarks to the clip, cap and barrel. It was made in the UK around 1975.
The pen is in excellent condition with no dings or dents anywhere. However, the pattern to the cap is more defined than the pattern to the barrel. The soft solid gold has worn significantly due to use. I am not surprised it has been used - the nib is a fabulous Broad Italic, look at the write sample!!!
It is supplied in an original Parker box, but it is not the normal Presidential box.
This is a valuable pen because of the gold content (estimated 14.25g of 9ct gold which is worth £250 at current prices) but the pen is spoilt somewhat by the marked difference in the pattern wear. It would be a shame to scrap it, especially with the wonderful nib, so it has been priced way below what a good example would fetch.
