Thomas De La Rue Ltd began manufacturing the Onoto range in 1905 and they quickly eastablished themselves in an already densely populated marketplace. The pens were successful because of the excellent quality of the materials used and the superior design of the filling system. Onoto pens were as good, if not better, than all their contemporaries including Parker, Watermans and Conway Stewart.
This is a very nice example of Onoto's "De La Rue Pen" finished in classic Black with gold filled trim.
The pen is in near mint condition, the finish is bright and vibrant and the original shop sticker is still on the cap showing a price of 5s 3d. (out of interest this equates to around £180 in todays money !!) The plating to the clip and cap rings is in superb condition.
The 14ct gold nib is in excellent condition and writes beatifully with a Broad Flexible line. Onoto pens are fabulous writing instruments and this one will give you years of faithful service.
