The PFM (Pen For Men) was introduced by Sheaffer in 1959. It quickly established itself as one of the most successful pens ever made by Sheaffer and many collectors view it as one of the best pens ever made. It is a large pen, beautifully designed and built with high quality workmanship and technical excellence.
There were 5 PFM's in the range;
PFM I - plastic cap and barrel, stainless steel clip and palladium silver nib.
PFM II - frosted stainless steel cap, plastic barrel and palladium silver nib.
PFM III - plastic cap and barrel, gold filled trim and 14ct gold nib.
PFM IV - stainless steel cap, gold filled trim, plastic barrel and 14ct gold nib.
PFM V - gold filled cap, plastic barrel and 14ct gold nib.
This is the PFM V in Burgundy with a rolled gold cap.
The inlaid 14ct gold nib is in excellent condition and writes with an Extra Fine line. The pen uses the technically advanced snorkel filling mechanism. A tube extends from underneath the nib which is used to draw ink up from the bottle. It has been fully serviced and is ready to write. The pen is in mint condition with no dings to the cap and only very minor marks to the barrel and nib unit. The barrel still has the original chalk marks which were normally removed when the pen was sold.
