Thomas De La Rue Ltd began manufacturing the Onoto range in 1905 and they quickly established themselves in an already densely populated marketplace. The pens were successful because of the excellent quality of the materials used and the superior design of the filling system. Onoto pens were as good, if not better, than all their contemporaries including Parker, Watermans and Conway Stewart.
This is an excellent example of their earlier Hard Rubber range, this one is finished in the desirable Mottled Red Hard Rubber and is bandless and clipless.
The inscription on the barrel is crisp and clear, it reads: "ONOTO THE PEN, DeLaRue Co.Ltd. London.".
The pen is fitted with its original Fine nib which writes beautifully.
The plunger filling system, deliciously quirky but extremely efficient, has been fully serviced with a new washer and seals fitted.
Onoto pens are fabulous writing instruments and will give years of faithful service. This is a very special pen in beautiful condition, it is one of those that I don't really want to sell!
