This is a nice example of the lovely No.84 Fountain Pen and matching Propelling Pencil. The set was made in the UK around 1940. It is finished in the desirable Burgundy Marble with gold filled trim to the cap bands and clip.

The Fountain pen is in very nice condition with only minor marks. It is fitted with a lovely Extra Fine nib.

The pencil works fine but the cap won't pull off the shaft to access the eraser, it has been on there so long that it has fused in place, there is also a small gap between the cap and the barrel and a small split in the barrel, near the nozzle. It propels and retracts perfectly and new leads can be fitted easily so functionally it is fine. See the photos for more details.

The barrel imprint on both Pen and Pencil is crisp and the gold filled trim is in good condition. The set is supplied in its orginal box.

The 84 is my favourite Conway Stewart Pen and this one is a nice example. It is a shame about the issues with the pencil but functionally it is fine.
