This is an excellent example of the famous Watermans Ideal No.54 set made from Black Hard Rubber. The number 54 is much rarer than the relatively common No.52 and is about 10mm longer. Both Pen and Pencil have solid 9ct gold bands. They were made in the USA around 1925 and both are in fantastic condition with a deep imprint. The chasing to the pen barrel is a little worn but still clear and sharp.
Both items have been fully restored and they now work perfectly. The Fountain Pen is a lever filler and is fitted with an amazing Broad Italic nib. The pencil is the propelling type and uses 1.2mm leads which are still readily available.
