Description;

Kenrick & Jefferson were a traditional family-owned Stationery and Office Supplies business from the West Midlands. Just after WW1 they branched out into the booming Fountain Pen Market although there is no evidence that they actually manufactured their own pens, they probably commissioned them from one of the established pen manufacturers like Mabie Todd or Wyvern. Many of their earlier pens bore a striking resemblance to the Swan models at the time.

This pen is called the "Mid Super Pen", it is made from Black Hard Rubber and dates from the late 1920's. The clip bears the K&J logo but it is almost identical to the Mabie Todd stepped clip so my educated guess is that this pen was made by Mabie Todd. Mabie Todd also had their own nib manufacturing department so it would have been relatively easy to put a K&J logo on the nib as well.

The pen is in fabulous, near mint, condition and the pen feels solid and well made. The gold plating is strong (another Mabie Todd trait) and the imprint is deep and clear. There is none of the usual fading of the hard rubber - it is still dark and consistent throughout.

The 14ct gold nib is in excellent condition and writes beautifully with a Fine line. The pen is a lever filler and it has been fully serviced.

This is a top-quality pen from one of the less well-known suppliers.
