Pelikan pens have been made in Hanover, Germany since the late 1920's. The piston system, used by all the major European manufacturers, was invented by Pelikan and virtually the same system is still in use today. Pelikan pens were built to very strict tolerances and as a result they have the enviable reputation of being the most reliable pens ever made.
Most pen experts recognise Pelikan as superior to all of the other European manufacturers, including Montblanc! The vintage models, especially, are very much sought after.
This is a Pelikan 355 Ball Pen, made around 1960. This pen matches the 140 range of fountain pens. It is finished in Burgundy with gold filled trim to the clip and cap ring. It is in fabulous condition with very minor marks and no plating wear.
The pen takes the original Pelikan refills or Schmidt 700 refills fit perfectly.
