4898 Watermans CF Fountain Pen in Gold Moire. Smooth Medium FIVE STAR nib.

The CF was one of the first cartridge pens to be introduced. It was made in the UK from around 1962 until around 1965, but production continued in France well into the 70's. It was a tremendous pen and it was highly thought of, but the cartridges were not a standard size and when they were no longer available the majority of CF's were discarded. The converters are very difficult to find as well.

The story is quite sad as the pens were well made and the design was pleasing to the eye. The good news is that I have managed to acquire a number of new old stock cartridges. A full box of blue cartridges will be sent with the pen. These can easily be refilled with a syringe when empty so they will provide a lifetime of good service.

This model was made in France around 1970 and has seen very little use. It is finished in the lovely looking gold moire, a finish unique to Watermans. The Medium 18ct nib writes beautifully.

Flaw: There is a hairline crack in the gold plate surrounding the nib (see photo). it is purely cosmetic and does not affect the functionality of the pen but it needs to be pointed out and priced accordingly.

Condition: Grade B purely because of the trim crack.
