Description.

This is a lovely example of the hugely desirable Parker 51 Double Jewel Vacumatic. The double jewel pens were only made in the USA between 1943 and 1947 and were fitted with the famous Blue Diamond clip signifying Parkers lifetime warranty. The more common single jewel 51's were made in the UK. Both single and double jewelled Vacumatic 51s were phased out of production in the late 1940's to be replaced with the aerometric models which ran until the mid 70's in various guises.

So, having established the history I can tell you about the pen! This rare pen, in outstanding condition, is finished in Black with a frosted alloy cap with a wide polished cap lip. The blue Diamond clip and the top and bottom tassies are gold filled with the original jewels still present. The imprints on the barrel below the clutch ring are clear and the pen is datre coded for the 1st quarter of 1947. The clutch ring still has its gold filled central section - a most unusual feature because the plating wears off very quickly. The vacumatic filling system has been fully serviced and a new diaphragm has been fitted. The nib is a Fine and the pen writes smoothly. The condition is confidently described as excellent, the pen has only very light wear marks throughout.

This is a lovely pen, desirable because of its history and rarity, but also because of the condition.
