Pelikan pens have been made in Hanover, Germany since the late 1920's. The piston system, used by all the major European manufacturers, was invented by Pelikan and virtually the same system is still in use today. Pelikan pens were built to very strict tolerances and as a result they have the enviable reputation of being the most reliable pens ever made.

Most pen experts recognise Pelikan as superior to all of the other European manufacturers, including Montblanc! The vintage models, especially, are very much sought after.

This is a Pelikan 130 IBIS, made around 1950. It has a black celluloid barrel with a black cap and turning knob. It is in fabulous condition with very minor marks and a little plating wear to the bottom edge of the clip.

The pen is fitted with a lovely Fine Italic nib which is totally original to the pen. The piston fillling system has been fully serviced and lubricated and it now works perfectly. This particular pen is not marked "IBIS" on the clip screw as I have seen on other models, however it is identical in every other way and I can only assume that the clip screw has been replaced at some point in its life.
