Pelikan pens have been made in Hanover, Germany since the late 1920's. The piston system, used by all the major European manufacturers, was invented by Pelikan and virtually the same system is still in use today. Pelikan pens were built to very strict tolerances and as a result they have the enviable reputation of being the most reliable pens ever made.

This is a Pelikan P30, made around 1968.  The P30 is a cartridge pen and this version is finished in Sapphire Blue with a rolled gold cap and a gold plated clip. It is in fabulous condition with very minor marks and no plating wear. 

The pen is fitted with a lovely Medium nib which is totally original to the pen. The original shop sticker is still present on the barrel.
